Evie and Andy meet for the first time!
Evie got to meet her new best friend, Andrew Paul (Jen and Tom's new baby!) today. Andy is about 2.5 weeks old, born on September 15. While the daddies enjoyed Sunday football and tracking their multiple fantasy football leagues, the mommies treated themselves to afternoon tea at the Ritz-Carlton. In this picture, Evie lets Andy know that he can lean on her, if he needs a friend.
It looks as if "napping" is contagious, as the two cuties close their eyes to get some sleep (or, to avoid the flash from two enthusiastic mommy photographers!).
Baby Evie's first race...
Evie's training all paid off when she participated in a "Dash for Dad" race/walk this Sunday morning. While Mommy, Ba, and Opa walked the 2K, Daddy ran the 10K and came in 7th place out of around 500 runners! Pretty amazing (but a little embarrassing that Dad passed the 2K walkers and then came back to meet us because we were walking a little slow).
Wait a second... maybe it was because Evie slept the whole time in her new "Cadillac" stroller. I guess she just couldn't help it in such a smooth ride.

Quality Time with Mom & Dad this Weekend
On Friday, Evie also got the opportunity to visit Daddy at work, although she did not seem impressed by her surroundings.
On Saturday she met more visitors, including Auntie Lilly and Emily and Paul, who enjoyed a big sushi dinner (which included shrimp & grits).
Sunday was a big day as the family all celebrated Mommy's birthday together with cake! Evie showed off her precociousness by grabbing and holding on to a rattle. Finally, here's Evie and Mommy in her new robe that she probably will never take off as it's as soft as a baby blanket.
What a Week!
Evie had quite an exciting third week! It started with Auntie Mellie visiting from Philadelphia - she enjoyed strolling through the streets of Old Town at the Art Festival. In fact, Evie is quite the cultural baby as by the end of the week she was enjoying jazz in the outdoor sculpture garden with her parents - her first trip into DC!
But... she does seem to to have a habit of sleeping through all her cultural excursions...

Special Edition of CRIBZ
Today, we provide an insider view of little baby Evie's nursery, where the magic happens! Marc and his brother Wally built a wall in the middle of the master bedroom and created a whole new room (keeping the guest room available for visitors!). Marc painted the room in the "Winding River" color and even included a door so that Evie can have her privacy when needed!
The theme of the room is based on Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go" book (one of Katrina's favorite Dr. Seuss tomes, who by the way attended Marc's alma mater, Dartmouth). Note the stenciling above the crib (Katrina's first attempt), artwork from the book, and funky Ikea lamps.
Marc likes to rock Evie to sleep after a night-time feeding in her little rocker. Note the extensive book collection, and thanks to everyone who contributed their favorite books to the library! Although she was a much more captive audience when Marc would read her a story every night before she was born, Evie will certainly be an avid reader in the years ahead.
Here is the decoupage bench masterpiece created by Evie's unofficial aunties, Mel and Lillian, showing off their Martha Stewart skills. What a wonderful piece that Evie can treasure forever!

Another Big Day Today!
Evie had many adventures today, including her 2-week doctor's appointment, visiting her grandparents out in Fairfax, and taking yet another bath. Dr. Potter reported that Evie is in great shape and has already surpassed her birth weight and is now 8 lbs and 15 oz. Wowsers!
After the appointment, Evie dropped by Opa's and Ba's house to check on the construction of their new master bathroom, before heading back home.
Here she is dressed in her little "gangsta" e.g. "later Gater" outfit, with Mom nearby getting some much-needed rest.

Baby Katrina
People are wondering who Evie looks like most. Well, here are some pix when I was a baby. See any resemblance to Evie?
A big 2 days for Evie's Firsts!
