Summer comes to DC a little early...

It was a pretty busy but fun weekend. Mommy had off on Friday so she took Evie to Georgetown Day, where Evie got to see Mommy's work colleagues and have a free lunch with Auntie Jen and Andrew. Evie seemed a little overwhelmed by the amount of people running around but seemed to dig the band playing some Mighty Mighty Bosstones. While no one was looking, Andrew took Evie's pacifier and put it in his mouth, which everyone found pretty funny (see below).

Afterwards, Mommy drove downtown and the two went to check out the Newseum before meeting with Daddy for a wine & cheese picnic on the Mall. We tried a fun experiment where we gave Evie a spoon and watched as she tried to feed herself. Needless to say it was quite a messy experiment, and we had to take off Evie's blueberry-covered outfit for the ride home.

(she looks a little "drunk" on blueberry applesauce in this picture)

On Saturday we headed over to Opa's and Ba's for lunch and a couple of hours of fun. Evie got to push her cool new Radio Flyer wagon around outside on the deck, but then quickly went inside because it was pretty darn hot!

(yeah, I like sitting in my wagon too!)

Evie: waterbaby in training...

o
Evie had her first "swimming" class tonight. At first, she seemed to do all right, adjusting to the chilly water of the pool and splashing around with the rubber duckie. But then after 15 minutes she was ready to be done. Maybe it was because Mommy was so short and got nervous when they were going in the deep end. Hopefully next week she'll enjoy it more - we'll have to practice in her bath during the week.

Our cutie with her robe and bathing suit!

Evie with Ba - she looks like she's a little scared of what's in store!

Evie getting used to being on her tummy and reaching for her rubber duck. This was probably around the time she got a mouthful of water and didn't like it too much.

Take me out to the ballgame!

It was opening day at Nationals Park as the home team took on the World Champs, the Phillies - and Evie was there to experience it. Unfortunately, Daddy had to catch a flight so missed the exciting game, but Aunty Mellie and Uncle Brian accompanied mommy to the game. Evie was so well-behaved although she stuck her hand into another person's beer - she lasted about 6.5 innings before getting a little restless.

Unfortunately, in this get-up she got mistaken for a boy, even with her pink Yankees bib, but that's ok!

With Daddy before we leave for the park...

With Aunt Mellie and Uncle Brian in our great right field seats...

With the Geico gecko bobble-head statue...

With two great Presidents and Mommy - it was TJ's birthday and he almost ran the race, but in the end Lincoln pulled it out for a win!

...and Easter in Virginia...

After a lovely Easter brunch, Evie opened up her Easter baskets and was delighted to get this book, as Spot goes on a hunt for eggs as well. Right after this picture, the book went straight into Evie's mouth, like many books these days. They are great for teething babies!

Evie is excited about walking to grab some eggs in her pretty spring dress!

Evie loves taking pictures for the camera, just like her mom when she was a kid. Here she is with Mom and Ba. After posing for the picture, she likes to see how it turned out and reaches for the camera to view the pix.

Here is Evie with her Easter basket and eggs... which she tried to eat whole. Whoops. She liked the grass more than the eggs for the most part, though.

Easter in Spring Lake!

Painting eggs with Grandma Beanie!

Look how big Jules has gotten!

Easter is a special time in the Foelsche-McDonald clan, as six years ago Marc proposed to Katrina by hiding her ring in an egg that she found during the famous McDonald egg hunt. The family traveled up to New Jersey to celebrate another great Easter, and despite the thunder and rain the hunt went on as planned. This year, Casey came in first, followed by Marc, and then Katrina, and then Dave.

Evie had a great time playing with her cousin Julianna, although she was a little scared of Tootsie and her kisses. It was a fantastic Easter!

As Mom would say, ack, Grandma, don't get up in my grill!

Here is Evie staring at Tootsie again, but Grandma and Popi will keep her safe.

Walking on Sunshine

This weekend Evie got out and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather in our backyard. She wears her cute new hat with pride (until it gets in her eyes). She loves the camera now and every time it comes out she'll put on a big smile for the camera, and then will want to look at the digital image on the back. She's a smarty-pants, this one!

If it's spring in DC it's cherry blossom time!

No spring would be complete in DC without a stop by the Tidal Basin to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms (while trying to avoid the masses). We had wonderful weather this weekend to go out and explore, and were joined by Ba, Opa, and Aunt Karin who was visiting from Yorktown. Evie seemed to enjoy the sights and sounds of many kids running around while the family enjoyed some wine & cheese from our new cheese shop in Old Town.

Evie is pretty in pink in her new overcoat.

Daddy, Evie, and Aunty Karin enjoy a good laugh!

You can see Evie's front two teeth in this great picture of her and Ba.

Our little girl loves to stand!

But Opa, I want to walk!

Whoops, mommy needs to learn how to use the video feature on the camera - sorry this isn't vertical! Here is Evie showing off her walking skills!
