The Great Pumpkin eludes us again...

Sunday was a beautiful fall day, so the family piled into the Volvo and headed over to Butler's Orchard in Germantown, MD for a day at the PumpkinFest. Evie had a great time playing in hay (although she couldn't quite figure out what it was), running around in the corn maze, and sliding down a big slide with Daddy. One thing she did NOT like was feeding the goats - apparently they were a little close for comfort.

Do I get to pick the pumpkin? I am much happier this year than last year when Mom and Dad propped me up against a pumpkin and I didn't know what was going on! (see below)

Then, after we had picked out a pumpkin and got some apple cider doughnuts, the family headed to Del Ray for the 13th Annual Halloween Parade. Evie clapped as other kids in costumes walked by, including dogs. All the little dachshunds dressed up like hot dogs reminded us of Tootsie.

Evie actually must like her lion cub costume because she makes no attempt to get the hood off!

Yum - I love my pumpkin-flavored frozen custard from the Dairy Godmother. Tasty!

Evie runs around with the big kids...

Evie had an exciting weekend, playing around with some big kids and attending friend Ava's birthday party. The family went to Tysons Corner on Saturday and made two stops for Evie: one at the Build a Bear Workshop and one at the playground area. Evie had a gift certificate from her birthday and picked out a monkey - Curious George is one of her favorites! We added a monkey sound and then got to see the monkey stuffed. The finishing touch was a UVA t-shirt. Then Evie had a blast playing at the indoor playground, climbing and sliding off of the butterflies and mushrooms, and avoiding getting run over by the older kids.

Evie celebrates Daddy's Birthday

The family headed up to Spring Lake to celebrate Daddy's birthday this weekend. Evie had a great time running on the beach, up to the water and chasing seagulls. She had a great time playing with Grandma Bebe and smiling at Popi and watching Tootsie warily. Aunt Casey and Uncle Davy came over later with Jules and Stanny, who loves to smile and laugh. The two girls painted pumpkins and listened to Grandma's scary stories to celebrate Halloween a little early.
