Sledding in the snow...

Evie had a delightful Sunday: her first dim sum experience with Ba and Opa (Evie liked the noodles from the wonton soup the best) followed by an hour of sledding. After her nap the family headed out for the park to find a hill to try sledding. Evie seemed to like it and being pulled around, but after awhile she wanted to get out and explore. Unfortunately this meant tasting a lot of snow - that seemed to be her favorite part of the outing!

Evie looks a little intimidated as Dad pulls her up the hill... ...but is all smiles at the bottom of the hill!

Evie the artiste

It was a rainy Sunday and Mommy and Evie were feeling under the weather, so the family stayed inside all day and amused ourselves with some finger-painting. Evie loved putting her whole hand in the paint, mixing all the colors together, and then clapping her hands together. Evie also felt the need to taste the paint as well... thankfully it is non-toxic. She also got it all over her face and hair as the hour progressed. In the end, we had several colorful masterpieces and one colorful Evie!

Evie tries a new technique with the sponge and spoon. How avant garde.
Evie was delighted when she got a first view of herself in the mirror - she couldn't stop smiling.

Then she realized - yikes! - I need a bath!

Snow and water park all in one place?!?

This long holiday weekend the family traveled down to Massanutten in Virginia to enjoy a couple of days away, and Jen, Tom and Andrew joined us for the fun. Unfortunately, most of the snow had melted in the 50 degree weather but we did find a small patch of snow that we could pull the kids around in sleds. But the best part was the indoor water park, which Evie loved. She floated around in the lazy river, got splashed a lot, and slid down some small water slides. Unfortunately she seemed to think the water spouts were water fountains...

Is it just me or do Andrew and Evie look like an ol' married couple already?
Maybe Evie was being a backseat driver...

Evie loves her snowsuit!

That's one cute pig!

Evie enjoyed a storytelling session at Hooray for Books about her favorite (mischievous) pig, Olivia! Evie sometimes wears her mother out like Olivia, but she loves her anyway.

W-burg Road Trip

We traveled down to Williamsburg on Saturday to have lunch at Le Yuca, a delicious French restaurant with Aunt Karin, Ariane, Alexi, Adam, and Clara. Evie enjoyed the bread and desserts and attempting to climb on the high chair. She also loved smelling the flowers!

Escaping the cold at the Frostival

Evie and the family rang in the new year on Friday by checking out Fairfax's first ever Frostival, which was thankfully all inside and away from the bitter cold. Evie's favorite part was pushing her stroller around the room, but she also liked chasing the snowflake lights on the ground and gave the giant frog a high five. In the picture above she is jamming to the kid's rock band Rocknoceros with her cheerio cup - she likes to twirl and stomp her feet really quickly which almost looks as if she's throwing a tantrum, but that's how our Evie dances.

Look at those eyelashes! They're bigger than her mom's!

Evie colors some winter scenes, including a walrus, with her favorite crayons.
