Happy birthday Stanley...and Julianna too!

Last weekend, the whole family made the trip up to Spring Lake to celebrate cousin Stan's first birthday and his sister Julianna's second birthday. Evie had a fun time at the beach running into 55 degree water only to be picked up by her Dad before the waves crashed too high on her body -- this went on for a very long time and their feet were awfully red due to the cold water. Evie and her cousin Molly also enjoyed BeBe's Mother's Day gift -- a blow-up pool with slide and water sprayer. Alas, no photos of those activities, but we do have photos of the main event!

It's cousin Stan with Aunt Casey. Stan did manage to blow out over 15 candles for his first birthday. Hmmm... the math seems off.

Evie really love cupcakes -- particularly the icing. She explains why cupcakes taste so good with her Great Aunt Dellie.

Evie demonstrates her funny face with Popi and BeBe.

Evie Loves Reading!

Evie loves reading her books (almost as much as Mom loves reading to her)! One of her favorites is Moo Baa LaLaLa because she can sounds like a wide variety of animals as you can see in the video above.

Adventures on Mother's Day...

What a wonderful surprise for Mother's Day! Ba and Opa treated the family to a boat cruise on the Nina's Dandy, leaving right from Alexandria and cruising up the Potomac to Georgetown. Evie was a big fan of the brunch and couldn't get enough of running around on the boat's top deck. She also liked listening to Ernie the pianist who sang one of her favorite songs, You are my Sunshine!

I love watermelon! But I'll share some with Ba.
Evie looks funny as she drinks her orange juice out of her tea cup...

Gotta put on some shades before we go outside in the bright sunlight!

Wow - it is windy up here! But I loved running around in the sun and looking at the other boats in the water.
She saw boats in the water, buses on the bridge, and planes above - Evie was in heaven!

Mother and daughters are wind-swept but not without smiles!

Oh, I love this mousse and whipped cream. I'm going to lick every bit of my spoon!

Evie Patty Cake (but no baked beans...)

Evie is a huge fan of Patty Cake! She knows all the words (with a little encouragement from Mom). It is her favorite song and likes to sing the very end spontaneously.

90 degrees - time to hit the pool!

It was HOT yesterday! So the family put on our bathing suits and blew up the giraffe pool to do some splashin' and cool down.

Evie loved pouring water onto Mommy!

Evie gives her giraffe a hug and goes in for a kiss.
She looks a little bashful!
Whee! the water spray comes out of the giraffe's tail!

Ba and Opa's 40th Wedding Anniversary

We threw a big surprise party for Ba and Opa at La Chaumiere, a French restaurant in Georgetown. Aunt Amy and Uncle Karl helped plan the big event and spent some QT with Evie the day before.

Look how surprised Ba and Opa were to see so many people! Evie had a great time celebrating this momentous occasion with so many family and friends who traveled as far as from Blacksburg, Yorktown, and New Jersey and had braved the traffic on M Street to join us. We ate great food and drank great wine - Evie wanted her first taste of Chateaneau du Pape, Opa's favorite - and had some delicious cake to end the night! As you can see from the pictures above - she also had some French Fries.

What a good girl Evie was all night!

Daddy put together a great slideshow with pictures from all 40 years of Opa and Ba's marriage. It was a big hit - except everyone had to laugh at old hairstyles and fashion.

Daddy, Aunt Dellie, Bebe and Mommy all had a great night!
