PJ Day at Preschool

It was Wear your Pajamas to School Day last week, and Evie enjoyed painting her nails and putting on some lipstick with her friend Bryn.

Evie got to bring baby Ellie to school on this special day as she sports her favorite pink pajamas. Unfortunately, she had outgrown her frog PJs with the footsies. Maybe next year...

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Mommy got to co-op at Evie's preschool this morning and what a morning it was! We celebrated Mardi Gras by making masks, crowns, and then parading around the schoolyard singing "When the Saints go Marching in!" Evie got a lot of beads and doubloons on the parade route!

Stop the masquerade! Who's hiding behind those masks?

Ellie has a blast swinging around her sister's beads.

A Presidential visit...

What's that, you say? The Obamas making another trip into Old Town Alexandria? No, silly, we mean the visit of the other POTUS - "Parents Of The Upper Shore" (read: Upper Shore = New Jersey)! The family was so lucky to have Bebe and Popi come down and visit us on this Presidential weekend. The weekend started with Friday Pizza Night, a McDonald family tradition. We enjoyed our dinner while watching Ellie show off her walking skills and Evie show off her reading skills.

Evie is all smiles that her grandparents are in town. Doesn't Grandma Bebe take the best pictures?!? It sure is nice having an artistic photographer in the family!

Look, Ma! One hand! Ellie likes to show off her balancing skills.

The next day, we went to the National Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum where Bebe enjoyed the Annie Leibowitz exhibit, Popi enjoyed the gallery of Presidents, and Evie enjoyed family day down in the Kogod Courtyard. Evie got to make her own Lincoln top hat which she wears with pride.

Next stop, the Lincoln Log area to construct some log cabins. Daddy is now proudly wearing Evie's Lincoln hat.

We all enjoyed listening to the snare drums and fifes from this group from Yorktown, Virginia. They saved Yankee Doodle Dandy till the end, where we all learned that the song was actually a British song used to insult the Colonists. Huh. Maybe we should stop singing that at the Fourth of July.

Bebe and Ellie bond over a tug o' war session for Bebe's glasses.

Eh, Ellie is blase about the whole thing...that is...

...until she gets to meet one of the Nationals mascots George Washington! Check out his giant head!

Daddy and Evie hung out with Teddy - maybe they will be his lucky charm and then he will win a race this year. We ended our DC visit with a picnic by the ice skating rink at the Sculpture Garden. Later that night, we had dinner at the Majestic Cafe, one of Bebe's and Popi's favorites, and the kids lasted through 2 courses! Mommy and Daddy were quite proud. We ended the night with a little gelato which was delizioso! What a wonderful visit with Bebe and Popi!

Our Little Sweethearts

Who couldn't fall in love with these little sweethearts!?!

A great family portrait, if only Ellie was looking at the camera!

Evie and Mommy share a joke that Ellie finds quite funny!

Three girls with some beautiful flower arrangements, thanks to Ba and Daddy.

Evie gives Ba a valentine kiss.

By the time Opa arrived, the kids were losing interest in taking photos - the pictures leading up to this one were quite an amusing progression, and revealed both sister's mischievous sides.
Happy Valentine's Day, everybody!

Sk8ter Girl(s)...

The family headed over to TJ Community Center on Saturday for Family Skate Night! Evie gave it a try although she was a little frightened of falling down.

Yikes, this is hard!

Ellie got a kick out of watching the skaters, including friends Greta, Ava, Connor, Charlotte, and Levi get down to the music.

After a couple of minutes, Evie was ready for the moon bounce, and was all smiles for the rest of the night!

Earlier that week, the girls had their first bubble bath together, which was a blast!

Evie liked giving her sister a new hairstyle.

Ellie was a good sport, partly because she liked attempting to eat the bubbles.

But after awhile, she wanted out!
