Mardi Gras Rehearsal Dinner

The happy couple organized a fantastic dinner on the Sandpiper Deck with a Mardi Gras theme! As the sun set, we all enjoyed a delicious meal with the lovely setting.

The family decked out in our finest!

Aunty Michelle, Evie and Mom..
Evie with cousin Adeline (as a zombie bride) playing in the sand. It was a little to hot for Evie to wear her lion cub costume!
Mommy and daughter hit the dance floor with Adeline.

Daddy, thank you for sharing your key lime pie with me! Delish!

Evie gets all gussied up for Karl and Amy's wedding...

I love Ba's necklace! Did you notice our dresses match - totally unplanned!

With Mommy and Ba...

Got some time to spare, so I'm going to try playing some chess...

Look at Uncle Karl all dappered up...

Amy and Karl being announced as husband and wife..

Evie had a great time dancing with Daddy at the reception..

Yea! What a party!

Down to Florida for Uncle Karl's wedding!

Evie took her first flight this weekend down to Tampa, Florida for Uncle Karl's wedding to Amy. She did a great job on the plane... sleeping the whole way... once we arrived, we caught up with the bride and groom for a lovely lunch at the resort which was like paradise. Then we were soon off to the beach and pool for some fun. Evie loved the beach - the water was pretty calm so she could run around in the pools and ran straight into the small waves. She also loved playing with the sand and shells, which were quite helpful in taking small tastes of sea water and sand. Luckily after a few licks she gave up on her taste tests.

More pictures of Amy's and Karl's wedding coming up...

The Great Pumpkin eludes us again...

Sunday was a beautiful fall day, so the family piled into the Volvo and headed over to Butler's Orchard in Germantown, MD for a day at the PumpkinFest. Evie had a great time playing in hay (although she couldn't quite figure out what it was), running around in the corn maze, and sliding down a big slide with Daddy. One thing she did NOT like was feeding the goats - apparently they were a little close for comfort.
Whee! Down the slide with daddy!
Do I get to pick the pumpkin? I am much happier this year than last year when Mom and Dad propped me up against a pumpkin and I didn't know what was going on! (see below)

Then, after we had picked out a pumpkin and got some apple cider doughnuts, the family headed to Del Ray for the 13th Annual Halloween Parade. Evie clapped as other kids in costumes walked by, including dogs. All the little dachshunds dressed up like hot dogs reminded us of Tootsie.

Evie actually must like her lion cub costume because she makes no attempt to get the hood off!

Yum - I love my pumpkin-flavored frozen custard from the Dairy Godmother. Tasty!

Evie runs around with the big kids...

Evie had an exciting weekend, playing around with some big kids and attending friend Ava's birthday party. The family went to Tysons Corner on Saturday and made two stops for Evie: one at the Build a Bear Workshop and one at the playground area. Evie had a gift certificate from her birthday and picked out a monkey - Curious George is one of her favorites! We added a monkey sound and then got to see the monkey stuffed. The finishing touch was a UVA t-shirt. Then Evie had a blast playing at the indoor playground, climbing and sliding off of the butterflies and mushrooms, and avoiding getting run over by the older kids.

Here is Daddy and Evie playing with the new monkey, whom we've creatively named "Monkey".

Evie wishes Ba a happy birthday...

Hi, Ba! I've brought some lovely birthday gifts for you!

Do you like the card I picked out? It's got lots of glitter!

I love when everyone sings Happy Birthday! But I love the cake even more...

Check me out in my Lilly Pulitzer outfit from Uncle Wally - am I chic or what?
On Sunday I had a great time playing in the playground with Mommy! We needed to get out of the house after five days of rain!

Evie celebrates Daddy's Birthday

The family headed up to Spring Lake to celebrate Daddy's birthday this weekend. Evie had a great time running on the beach, up to the water and chasing seagulls. She had a great time playing with Grandma Bebe and smiling at Popi and watching Tootsie warily. Aunt Casey and Uncle Davy came over later with Jules and Stanny, who loves to smile and laugh. The two girls painted pumpkins and listened to Grandma's scary stories to celebrate Halloween a little early.
